Monday, 8/24
The weekend was pretty chill and uneventful. I'm trying not to freak
myself out over not going into the office today and it's only 7:15am.
This is affecting me more than I thought. Perhaps I'm not much
different than Dante in having difficulty with transitions. Nina was
in town this weekend and at lunch I was rattling off all the things I
need to take care of and she looked at me and said "bored, you've got
a Dante and an apartment move to manage in the next few weeks". She's
right. It's the not going into the office part that I realized I'm not
used to. Because I really like my job and my co-workers (unlike before
when I was preg with Dante and so ready for time off) it bothers me
more this time around - and the six vs four months. One day at a time.
Today and tomorrow I already have full days with visiting friends,
meeting with the architect and dr appts to keep me busy. Maybe I'll
see about a mani/pedi and foot massage too :-)
Inspirational - I want to get back into reading about inspirational
thinkers over the next 6 months and help me grow spiritually with all
this time off. Just little stuff. I was watching the oprah podcast
(gotta love the O) with Sarah Ban Breathnach who talks about gratitude
and how it's about the little things that matter. She challenges
everyone to keep a gratitude journal and write down 5 things that you
are grateful for each day. I'm going to try and keep one myself. I
also bought a book called "change your thoughts change your life,
living the Tao" by Wayne Dyer, another Oprah fav.
Dante and I did practically nothing this weekend and at times I have a
hard time with just doing nothing. but.. it's OK and it's quality time
with Dante. Maybe this is where I need to channel my simple abundance
and breathe and enjoy the moment and the next as they slowly come. but
with the hot weather, we stayed mostly in-doors with little short
outside trips to the playground or to walk Lulu. Funny sayings: we
were peeking in the window at bax brenner's which closed on 2nd avenue
& 9th st. a lady peeked in too and said "oh my god" and Dante started
mimicking her "Oh My God!" over and over and over. At one point Rahav
handed Dante a big bowl of 16 Handles frozen yogurt and Dante
exclaimed "Holy Cow!"
