August 24th 2009

Monday, August 24th
Today was the first day of my maternity leave - I had a wonderful day too because I wasn't expecting too much, let things naturally happen, smiled and accepted that I have the fortune of six months off with no responsibility save for myself and my kids. Oh and the weather was gorgeous, sunny, 80s and low humidity, which helped!

I started it off by taking Dante to storytime at the library on W23rd and 7th Avenue and then strolled over to Rahav's and I dropped him off with Rahav and Ashley. Took the subway to the east village, my home, walked to Puerto Rican Coffee Company on St Marks Place and bought two pounds of flavored coffee: coconut and chocolate. Then, I
got a much needed foot massage - ahhhh and stepped into the De La Vega store to buy a "Become Your Dream" bag I saw on a man the other day. Mr De La Vega runs his own store/museum and he asked me about baby #2 and if I had any other kids. Then he surprised me with three kids shirts as a gift for my baby and for Dante - it made my day :-) those are expensive - Naomi gave me one when Dante was born and he quickly
grew out of it. Anyhow, it was completely unexpected and put a huge smile on my face!

I walked home and took a little nap. Woke up and made some chocolate black tea I bought ages ago from Alice in Wonderland Tea Shop in the UWS. Darcy came by at 4:30 with home made bran/blueberry muffins and we chatted about babies a bit and then I gave her all my maternity clothes that don't fit me anymore, which is 80% of them! At 5:30 I met Rahav and Dante in the playground and we played for an hour before Dante asked for a popcicle.

We came home and I fixed pasta w/tomato, garlic and basil sauce. I could tell he was already tired. I gave him a quick bath at 8pm and we laid down together. I told him I loved him and he said, "I love you Imma". I read the Wayne Dyer book while he drifted off to sleep around 9pm. Sometime in the night he woke up saying "Imma Imma Imma" and fell back asleep. Ahhh my little angel!
